Abstract: Air pollution isn’t the only torment that sufferers with respiratory problems have to endure. Rapid changes in air pressure and temperature can equally trigger bronchial spasms or asthma attacks. Dry gusty winds lift a significant amount of dust particles from the soil, ionize the atmosphere and dislodge allergens from plants. The airborne particles irritate the airways and lungs. Cold air causes the bronchial tubes to constrict making breathing more difficult. Cold weather also keeps the asthmatic indoors where he or she is subjected to household or pet allergens.
