Abstract: Air is never pure. Natural and man-made impurities exist in every corner of the world and lead to health problems. Wind can carry pollution almost undiluted for hundreds of kilometres and dump the toxins upon unsuspecting inhabitants. On the other hand, a stable atmosphere assures that pollution stays at home. Air impurities trigger dreadful symptoms amongst an ever-increasing number of hayfever and asthma sufferers. Some tiny particles penetrate deep into the lungs and enter the blood stream. Scientists link them with heart and circulatory disorders. Dry air causes cracked skin and lips. It dries the mucus membranes and allows bacteria and viruses to enter almost unhindered.
